Part of the National Park Service today, the house and grounds are open for guided tours year-round. Enjoy personal stories of the O’Neills while a docent leads you through each room. Walk the grounds past the swimming pool, the gardens, the barn, now used for performances of O'Neill plays, and the gravesite of the O'Neill's beloved Dalmation, Blemie. You’ll leave understanding how Eugene O'Neill's life struggles inspired plays that changed the history of American theatre and touched the souls of playgoers everywhere. Annual special events are also offered in partnership with the Eugene O'Neill Foundation.
Saturday "No Reservations" are Back!
On Saturday May 1, 2010 the Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site will initiate an “Open Saturdays” format for visiting the park. Currently a reservation is needed to visit the site on Wednesday through Sunday, but starting in May no reservation will be required for touring the historic home and grounds on Saturdays. Shuttle bus transportation is still required for access to the gated community where the site is located. A bus will leave the Museum of the San Ramon Valley at 10am, 12 noon and 2 pm. The museum is located at the corner of Railroad Ave. and Prospect Rd. in downtown Danville. There is no charge for transportation or touring the site. The facilities include a limited number of picnic tables, drinking water and restrooms along with a visitor center and bookstore for informational materials.
Reservations are required to visit the park at all other times, and access is by National Park Service shuttle only. Visit The National Park Service and The Eugene O'Neill Foundation for more information, or call (925) 838-0249.
